Love Your Curls

About 3 months into Joining Young Living, I switched to their hair care line and have been so creative that I’ve finally found what works for me and my type of curly hair.

My first purchase was the Copaiba Vanilla shampoo and conditioner. I bought these two with intentions of using the conditioner as a cowash and the shampoo as a one a month clarifier. This line is moisturizing, however Young Living offers two other lines for other hair types.

I’m so excited about sharing this information because I practiced with the moisturizing line for several months now and I finally found what works.

First off, I only cowash my hair once every 4 days. And I use the shampoo about one time a month or more often depending what I expose my hair to. In between my washes, I refresh with a few drops of Argan oil mixed with a few drops of peppermint or Purification. I also have a spray bottle of just water on hand to wet my hair for restyling.

With this particular time I washed my hair, I used the Copaiba Vanilla Conditioner in my hair dry as a deep conditioner. I massaged it on my scalp and the ends of my hair. After waiting about 20 minutes, I rinsed. A tip for volume is to wash your hair upside down bent over a tub. Then I apply more Copaiba Vanilla to thoroughly wash all of my hair paying special attention to my scalp. I don’t know about you, but not only does my curly frizzy hair lean more towards dry, but so does my scalp. I wash for about 3-5 minutes. After rinsing, I apply Lavender Mint Conditioner as a leave-in. This has moisture but not as much as the Copaiba Vanilla. Plus it adds volume. Don’t rinse. I use just a tiny amount of this product mostly in the middle and the ends of my hair. Next, towel dry with a tee shirt or a micro fiber towel. This practice is so much more gentle on your curls. I dry my hair by scrunching from ends to root. After my hair is no longer dripping wet, add Mirah Shave Oil. Great for shaving, or after shave or as a moisturizer for your hair.

Here’s my hair wet just after using all three of the products mentioned above.

Now to dry my hair. On this night, I had time to let it air dry which took several hours. Don’t mind the little white spots below my lip. I’m having a few hormonal zits going on for which I applied Thieves toothpaste.

After completely drying, it was time to go to sleep but there was no way I wanted to screw up my curl pattern and cause knots with my tossing and turning. Therefore, I pineapple my hair. Curly girls, if you don’t already do this, you should. Another great practice is to pineapple, then twist all your hair together then wrap it around the pony tail end and secure with another scrunchy. The result is beautiful when you undo your hair in the morning. Here’s my pineapple 🍍

morning, undo the scrunchy to get this. I’m sure your results will be better than mine because my hair is thin and my curls are fragile but also versatile. Depending on my hairs mood, my curls are tighter or looser. But this is what my hair decided on this day.

elp the curls around my face with a half inch curling iron, mostly because of my cowlicks.

I know it’s not special or fantastic but you have no idea how much those products helped with frizz, Control and volume.

The best part about this, I completely did my hair with Essential Oils and all plant based products. If I were to tell you to start somewhere, it would be with the Mirah shave oil.

A Little About Cedarwood

First off, I must say, I’m not very attracted to the scent of Cedarwood Essential Oil, but I love the Therapeutic benefits.  To help my nose with the scent of this oil, I mix it with Lavender.

Everyone’s nose picks up on something different with single oils and blends and this is what helps me.  You may love the scent of Cedarwood, and I know plenty of people who do, but I need to give it a little help in the scent department.

A personal favorite of mine is a synergy of Cedarwood and Lavender.  Mix this blend with jojoba oil, or carrier oil of your choice, and you have a great blend to rub on the bottom of your feet, which helps promote relaxation and sleep.  When I do this, I am out like a light at night and I stay out.  I also like to mix this blend with Argan Oil for a scalp massage to help promote hair growth.  I do this right before bed at night too.  Also, Diffusing this blend at bedtime is a must try especially for those of you who have trouble falling and staying asleep.

Cedarwood is often described as woodsy, warm, and soft but I just don’t get that.  Other oils Cedarwood blends well with are Bergamot, clary sage, cypress, eucalyptus, floral oils, juniper, resinous oils, rosemary.

*Please remember, Young Living’s essential oils are potent and the therapeutic benefits are second to none.  If you too don’t like the scent of an oil but you find the same oil from another company that smells sweeter or is more kind to the nose, you may in fact have an oil that has been adulterated.  Sweeteners like vanilla and other chemicals are sometimes added to oils from other companies.  Please beware.  I’ve done my due diligence with other oils and I know what is out there and a bit of research and personal experiences has lead me to Young Living and there hasn’t been any looking back.

Must know properties of Cedarwood include:

Antifungal, anti-infectious, antiseptic (urinary and pulmonary), astringent, diuretic, insect repellent, and sedative.

And best yet, this oil is only $11.25 wholesale!

It’s a Pain Day

Wellness isn’t finding me so much today.

I’ve diffused.

Applied my Lavender.

I’m currently sitting in the beautiful warm sunshine peaking through the clouds and trees.

The sun feels so warming to my skin, muscles, and bones.

I was suppose to interview today but I know I’ll be sleeping.

I wanted to visit the salon to clean up the brows but today…

It’s just not happening.

It’s a pain day and while they are few and far in between, I’m gonna manage.

I’ll get through

Stitch Fix Spring 2017

Stitch Fix Spring 2017

I can’t tell you the excitement I feel when I see one of these boxes arrive on my door step.  it’s a mixture of Christmas morning and shopping from the comfort of my home while being able to try everything on.

TOMS Classic Chambray Slip On Flat

These shoes or soooo comfortable and match just about everything in my summer closet.  Verdict:  Kept

A little on the long side but nothing a pair of wedges can’t fix.  This dress was a keeper for me as I had planned to pair this with a denim jacket for a wine festival I attended in May.

LOVEAPPELLA Carlita Knit Maxi Dress

The above dress was slightly too tight although labeled the same size as the dress above it.  It’s a shame because of the the colors and design on this dress and I see it as a great transition piece into fall.  THML Jameson Embroidered Maxi Dress.  I think this too will look great with a denim jacket.

The next two pieces are my favorite of the box.  It’s not too often I get a pair of boyfriend jeans sent to me that fit but my stylist knew exactly what to do to adjust the size.  That’s a benefit of having the same stylist for the past year and giving feedback on all the items sent back and kept.  COSMIC BLUE LOVE Adrianne Distressed Boyfriend Jean.

Lastly the top.  I must say that it took some time for me to get use to wearing patterned tops or anything patterned for that matter.  I kept this though and have worn it twice because its so cool and breezy and fits well in all the right places.  RENEE C Alecto Halter Top.

Did you get a spring fix?  If so I’d love to see what you received.  This fix was my second spring fix that also was a total hit for my closet.  Pictures to come.  Also,  thank you to those that have signed up using my link because I was able to get an entire fix for free.
